The U.S. is a War Crime

As the U.S. ruling class media manufactures new accusations of Russian “war crimes” in Ukraine, Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party, has cut through the barrage of deceptive headlines with six simple words: “The U.S. is a war crime!”

The U.S. government, the world’s leading purveyor of genocide and destruction, has no standing to accuse anyone of war crimes.

Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM), the organization of white people formed and led by the African People’s Socialist Party, working for reparations to African people, calls on white people to take a stand in opposition to the U.S. government’s lies and hypocrisy.

The trail of blood left behind by the U.S. can be traced back to its inception. As Chairman Omali Yeshitela has exposed in his writings and presentations, the U.S. and Europe were born from the genocidal assault on Africa, kidnapping and enslaving African human beings and turning them into the first commodities of colonial capitalism.

The U.S. itself would not exist if not for the European genocide against the Indigenous people of the “Americas” – the torture, rape and slaughter of millions of Indigenous people and the theft of their land.

Chairman Omali Yeshitela has stated that within what he has termed the “colonial mode of production”, everything we have as white people comes at the expense of African and oppressed peoples.

This colonial mode of production runs on violence and terror. It was in the U.S., not Russia, where for more than a century white people lynched thousands of African men, women and children, sadistically torturing them in broad daylight in massive, public festivals of popular violence. Lynchings were state-sanctioned murders for which no white person was ever charged with a crime.

It is in the U.S. presently where every day another African person is gunned down by police or white vigilantes. One of the most recent police murders took the life of Amir Locke, a 22-year-old African man in Minneapolis, shot in his bed while sleeping when SWAT invaded his home in a notorious “no-knock” raid.

As Chairman Omali Yeshitela has pointed out, the same U.S. government now pretending to be so aghast at the alleged “killing of civilians”, is the one that in August of 1945 dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, brutally killing over 226,000 people.

Between 1964 and 1973, the U.S. dropped 270 million bombs weighing 2 million tons in Laos alone. About 80 million of those bombs did not explode, and from 1975 to 2008, more than 50,000 Laotians, many of them children, were killed by unexploded bombs, according to government statistics.

In just the last 30 years, the U.S. and NATO have launched wars of aggression in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Libya, along with covert and proxy wars throughout Africa, including in Congo where over 10 million African people have been brutally murdered as the U.S. and Europe loot massive quantities of coltan, oil, diamonds, gold and other resources.

When the U.S. bombs African and Arab people daily or when the police shoot and kill another African person, it’s just another day under colonial capitalism.

Reparations are owed for the unspeakable horrors committed by U.S. and European imperialism against African and other colonized peoples.

The African People’s Socialist Party has created the solidarity movement under its leadership to extend the struggle for African liberation and reparations into the colonizer population.

Through joining USM, we white people, the colonizers, can refuse to be complicit any longer with the atrocities carried out in our name and for our material benefit.

As white people, it is time that we turn our backs on the U.S. government and colonial-capitalist ruling class. Stand in solidarity with the African Revolution, the anti-colonial struggle of the African working class for power, self-government and reparations.

Join the fight for reparations to African people.

Get organized under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party.
